My Role: Software Engineer

Resource 19 is a platform that offers blueprints and DIY instructions for creating PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) like masks, face shields, and ventilators. We also offered multiple ways for our users to connect to hospitals to donate their creations. This platform was developed and launched amid the COVID-19 pandemic, where PPE shortages were a major issue for the U.S. healthcare system. Over the project’s lifetime, we confirmed donations of 95,000+ masks and 6,000+ face shields and achieved 70+ PPE design uploads to the website.

I was a software engineer focused on leading front-end development efforts for the platform. I worked with mid-level and senior engineers and collaborated with backend developers and designers to create an intuitive user interface that makers could use to find relevant instructional files and resources. I also created a system for creators to upload these instructions in multiple formats to be reviewed and then deployed onto the website in a semi-automated fashion. I also worked with partner organizations to integrate relevant APIs into the platform to enable usage such as finding nearby hospitals in need.
